City Center II Project by pspeth

The City of East Lansing is currently reviewing plans for City Center II. It is a proposed mixed-use project including residential units, retail, restaurants, office space, public exhibition areas and a parking structure.

The Planning Commission made a positive recommendation including 23 conditions to City Council.

City Commemorates Building Safety Week by pspeth

In commemoration of Building Safety Week, May 5-11, the Department of Code Enforcement and Neighborhood Conservation and East Lansing Fire Department will hold an educational open house for community members on Thursday, May 8 from noon-5 p.m. at 535 M.A.C. Ave.

Temporary Closure on Southbound Abbot/Chandler Road - May 7 by pspeth

The southbound lane of Abbot/Chandler Road, between Lake Lansing Road and Coleman Road, will be temporarily closed today, May 7, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

- The East Lansing Arts Commission has unveiled a new online Virtual Art Tour that connects the world to East Lansing’s vast public art collection. ELPL Receives National Accolades - The East Lansing Public Library (ELPL) has received national accolades from the United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY) in the form of a 2008 Bridge to Understanding Award for its innovative annual program, International Storytime.

Red Cedar River Cleanup Held April 19 - The City of East Lansing encourages community members to join the MSU Fisheries and Wildlife Club in a Spring Red Cedar River Cleanup event on Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Volunteers can sign in at the Canoe Livery near Bessey Hall on the MSU campus. Waders, canoes, rakes, trash bags and rubber gloves will be provided.

Public Art Gallery Presents Poet and Storyteller Marlaina Kreinin - The East Lansing Public Art Gallery presents poet and storyteller Marlaina Kreininin at a new exhibit entitled "Visionary Poetry," April 6 - May 1. One Book, One Community Announces 2008 Selection - One Book, One Community has announced its 2008 book selection, “They Poured Fire on Us from the Sky,” by co-authors Benson Deng, Alephonsion Deng and Benjamin Ajak. Meet one of the authors, Benjamin Ajak, as he kicks off the month-long One Book program on Aug. 20.
